portrait photography – manchester castlefield

These are the results from a recent portrait photography session at Castlefield, and Manchester city centre.  The main image is my favourite, taken near the townhall extension, just off Albert Square in Manchester. I am always looking for new interesting backdrops for my portrait photographs. Here I particularly like the repeating series of arches and the way that the shallow depth of field with the 85mm f1.4 throws them progressively out of focus Manchester. Could we have the latest catalogue model sensation on our hands?

Nikon D700, 85mm f1.4 AF-D, all shot wide open for minimum depth of field. The muted colours in this shot were achieved through attempting a bleach bypass effect in Aperture, moving the black point and adjusting the colour curves to get the desired effect.
