I had some time away last week and it was nice to be able to devote some time to landscape photography. Here is one of the results of my efforts. Taken at sunset on the steps up to the abbey using a Nikon D700 and 20mm fixed focal length lens.
New years day 2004 I was walking to clear my hangover on the South Downs above Ditchling in Sussex. It was thick fog but as usual I had a camera with me. The fog dropped and we were left with this great view. I took this shot which went on to feature on the 2005 Countryfile calendar. One of twelve winners from 10,000 entries apparently.
This was the view from the bathroom window of a holiday cottage we rented on Skye, looking over towards the Uists. Every evening it seemed that nature served up another spectacular sunset. Taken on velvia again, and a Pentax MZ-S.
Often it is the little details that make a shot. Here it is the bird on the statue’s head, well that and the sun streaking through the clouds. Taken on a Leica Minilux. It never ceases to amaze me what great images this little compact camera can produce. The lens is just amazing and consistently comes up with great images.
Taken at Keswick in the Lake District. This was a long exposure but no filtration, the fabulous saturated colours are what it was like. It still seems that only velvia can effectively reproduce them. Prints of this image can be ordered from the landscape section of the website.
I took these on a recent trip to Machynlleth in Mid-Wales. I like the fact that the mini has just become part of the garden. At what point do you move from I should get that moved to, oh well if I leave it, it will just become part of the garden! Contax G1, 35mm lens fuji’s fabulous neopan 1600, hence the grain.
