Here are a selection of shots from some recent deluxe female corporate headshot packages. These packages are designed to give the sitter sufficient time to get shots for their professional requirements. Sessions take half a day and the time is combined between the studio and locations nearby.
For the location shots I try to get a contemporary feel. Usually I will just use natural light and a shallow depth of field. This allows the subject to really stand out from the background and the background to blur into interesting abstract shapes. For the studio shots I try to tailor the shots depending upon the individual client’s business needs. If you are a business man or woman or a singer, musician or artiste and are interested in my headshots packages please follow the link to get more information on packages and pricing or get in touch.

These are some recent shots that I was commissioned to take of opera singer Bradley. He booked one of my deluxe adult headshot packages. These packages are designed to give the sitter sufficient time to get shots for their professional requirements. Sessions take half a day and the time is combined between the studio and locations nearby.
We set out to use the location time to get some contemporary headshots. I used natural light and a shallow depth of field for these shots, which allowed me to give a nice blur to the background and to draw attention to the subject. For the studio shots we wanted to make it look as though Bradley was on stage. For these shots I used a single profoto beauty dish up high with a grid. This gives a very focused beam not unlike a spotlight on stage. Detail was filled in with a reflector and the whole studio was kept dark. If you are a singer, musician or artiste and are interested in my headshots packages please follow the link to get more information on packages and pricing or get in touch.

Not all corporate headshots have to be taken in an office and involve someone in a suit. Many are the different business photography needs of my clients. I try to provide customers with business headshots that reflect their personality but that ultimately work for their individual business needs. These business portraits are of corporate trainer Zena, she wanted headshots for her business that reflected her relaxed approach and personality. We took a variety of portrait photographs around Manchester’s Castlefield basin. This is a favourite location of mine as it is filled with interesting architectural features to use as backdrops.
These corporate portraits were obtained as part of one of my standard business headshot packages. Follow the link for pricing and package options or alternatively get in touch to discuss your individual requirements.

Family portrait of you and your children do not have to be formal and staged. I specialise in relaxed lifestyle portraiture and for portrait photography of families and couples I work primarily outdoors. The key to great portraits is getting the subject relaxed and not self conscious in front of the camera. If you can achieve that then great photos always result. Consequently to get great photos of children we go somewhere they like and do things they enjoy and then having their photo taken becomes part of the game. After the session I put a gallery of your family portraits online for you to review and you choose your favourites. We then meet up again and I go through the range of contemporary presentation options that I can offer for your portraits. These include large acrylics and box prints, and pictures printed directly on to wood and metal. Booking a session is as easy as giving me a call or sending an email, so please get in touch.

Here are some more recent headshots of musical theatre performer Nicki. At the moment you can see her on the television every Saturday evening on Take Me Out. She approached me because she needed some good black and white headshots for her new west end agent. So unusually for me these days the portrait photographs were taken in a studio environment.
Lighting here is a very simple one light set-up albeit with the fantastic profoto beauty dish and grid. Once you have used one of these it is difficult to see how you would ever go back! Both of these shots were just one light above and to the left of the sitter with no other reflectors. I was very pleased with the results. Nicki has used them for her agent and on singers pro and casting call pro.

Here are a couple of photos from a recent business portrait or corporate headshot session in Manchester city centre. Darren wanted a portrait photograph taken for his author page in a book and journal articles.
The point of this post is really to show that not all business headshots involve a man in a suit and tie, and in fact many are the people and their respective business needs that can benefit from a stylish portrait. As usual the key to a good portrait is getting the client to relax and feel at ease. For the technically minded again this was taken with an 85mm f1.4, light typical manchester cloudy day, giving me very large natural softbox and nice soft light.

Here are the best photos from this afternoon. The basic task appeared to be relatively simple. Get a happy picture of a little girl against a dark background, such that her hair stands out. I turned up with lights and a backdrop but unfortunately the subject was having nothing to do with having her portrait taken. I tried moving to outdoors and using natural light, to no avail. Eventually these shots were obtained by me taking pictures of her parents, then pretending to leave and convincing her that she was going to miss out!

A few selected photos from a recent portrait and headshot session for Nick in Ancoats and Castlefield in Manchester. Thanks for your patience Nick and sorry about having to push the car! Interestingly it has now fixed itself and no fault can be found! All of the portrait photographs were taken on a Nikon D700 with a Nikon 85mm f1.4 AF-D. Thanks to Manchester’s fabulous soft diffused light (ie wet and overcast!) no external lights were used just the available light and open shade. Comments are always welcome.

Taken in the cup cakery in Chorlton, after a recent portrait shoot with Dave and his girls. Often the unstaged shots when the subject is unaware they are being watched are the best.
