I had some time away last week and it was nice to be able to devote some time to landscape photography. Here is one of the results of my efforts. Taken at sunset on the steps up to the abbey using a Nikon D700 and 20mm fixed focal length lens.

Rolls Royce at the Midland

January 26th, 2012

To commemorate the historic meeting of Charles Rolls and Henry Royce at the Midland hotel in Manchester, which led to the formation of Rolls Royce, the Midland Hotel hosted a lunch today. Guests included members of the Rolls Royce Enthusiasts Club and representatives from Rolls-Royce who presented the Midland’s resident manager Paul Bayliss with a painting to recognise the event. I was commissioned by the Midland Hotel to cover the proceeding and here are a few selected images from the days proceedings.

architectural photos in manchester

January 14th, 2012

Here is a selection of photos from a recent architectural photography shoot for Read Associates. They have just recently finished the fit out of Blackfriar’s house near Deansgate in Manchester and the Riverside Development in Salford. Both fit outs have made extensive use of bespoke joinery and it is this that Read’s wanted me to capture. I particularly like the way inside and outside are merged by the woodwork at the Riverside development. If you require similar architectural photography services please get in touch to discuss your requirements. A gallery of my architectural images can be seen here.

business headshots in manchester

January 4th, 2012

Here are a selection of shots from some recent deluxe female corporate headshot packages. These packages are designed to give the sitter sufficient time to get shots for their professional requirements. Sessions take half a day and the time is combined between the studio and locations nearby.

For the location shots I try to get a contemporary feel. Usually I will just use natural light and a shallow depth of field. This allows the subject to really stand out from the background and the background to blur into interesting abstract shapes. For the studio shots I try to tailor the shots depending upon the individual client’s business needs. If you are a business man or woman or a singer, musician or artiste and are interested in my headshots packages please follow the link to get more information on packages and pricing or get in touch.

headshots for singers & artistes

November 21st, 2011

These are some recent shots that I was commissioned to take of opera singer Bradley. He booked one of my deluxe adult headshot packages. These packages are designed to give the sitter sufficient time to get shots for their professional requirements. Sessions take half a day and the time is combined between the studio and locations nearby.

We set out to use the location time to get some contemporary headshots. I used natural light and a shallow depth of field for these shots, which allowed me to give a nice blur to the background and to draw attention to the subject. For the studio shots we wanted to make it look as though Bradley was on stage. For these shots I used a single profoto beauty dish up high with a grid. This gives a very focused beam not unlike a spotlight on stage. Detail was filled in with a reflector and the whole studio was kept dark. If you are a singer, musician or artiste and are interested in my headshots packages please follow the link to get more information on packages and pricing or get in touch.

headshots for actors in Manchester

November 1st, 2011

I get numerous enquiries from actors who require a headshot to send to casting directors or agents. They might be new to the profession or maybe changed their look and need to get some updated photos. A lot of these customers choose my standard headshot package. The session can take place on location or in a studio but actors invariably go with the studio option. The reproducibilty of the studio lighting allows them to concentrate on their expression and they find it gives them the neutral lighting and background that their agents require.

Here are a couple of recent examples from these packages. Follow the link for details of pricing and package options or alternatively get in touch.

corporate headshots manchester

October 24th, 2011

Not all corporate headshots have to be taken in an office and involve someone in a suit. Many are the different business photography needs of my clients. I try to provide customers with business headshots that reflect their personality but that ultimately work for their individual business needs. These business portraits are of corporate trainer Zena, she wanted headshots for her business that reflected her relaxed approach and personality. We took a variety of portrait photographs around Manchester’s Castlefield basin. This is a favourite location of mine as it is filled with interesting architectural features to use as backdrops.

These corporate portraits were obtained as part of one of my standard business headshot packages. Follow the link for pricing and package options or alternatively get in touch to discuss your individual requirements.

men’s fashion, manchester N 1/4

July 4th, 2011

Here are some the early edits from Sundays Fashion Shoot in Manchester’s Northern Quarter. All images are unretouched at this point. The backdrop is a location Bryan and i scouted during the week. It is an alleyway on the side of a large victorian building on Stephenson Square. I love the writing and the general feeling that it has not been painted for years. Models Ben and Adam from Boss.

Rosso Manchester, Ascot Ladies Day Party

June 19th, 2011

I was recently approached to provide event photography by Suzanne Page for a charity party she was hosting at Rosso in Manchester. The party took place on Ascot Ladies Day and all proceeds went to the Manchester Children’s Hospital. Outfits were spectacular and a good time seemed too be had by all. Guests had a three course lunch, some wine! and watched the racing projected onto a large screen at the front of the restaurant. Below are a selection of some of my favourite photos from the event. If you are hosting a similar party and wish us to attend please get in touch.

family portraits in manchester

February 10th, 2011

Family portrait of you and your children do not have to be formal and staged. I specialise in relaxed lifestyle portraiture and for portrait photography of families and couples I work primarily outdoors. The key to great portraits is getting the subject relaxed and not self conscious in front of the camera. If you can achieve that then great photos always result. Consequently to get great photos of children we go somewhere they like and do things they enjoy and then having their photo taken becomes part of the game. After the session I put a gallery of your family portraits online for you to review and you choose your favourites. We then meet up again and I go through the range of contemporary presentation options that I can offer for your portraits. These include large acrylics and box prints, and pictures printed directly on to wood and metal. Booking a session is as easy as giving me a call or sending an email, so please get in touch.
